How to Hang Posters – 7 Tips for Perfect Wall Décor
A high-quality poster transforms a room in an instant – provided it hangs in the right spot and at the right height. These seven tips will help you achieve perfect wall décor.
1. The right height
As a rule of thumb, the centre of the picture should be at eye level – roughly 145–150 cm above the floor. Above a sofa or sideboard, align it with the furniture instead and leave about 20–30 cm of space above.
2. Choose the right size
Large walls call for large formats. A single photo poster in 70×50 cm above the sofa makes a far stronger statement than several small pictures. Portrait formats suit narrow walls.
3. Plan a gallery wall
Several posters as a gallery? Lay them out on the floor first and try different arrangements before you start. An even gap of 3–5 cm keeps the overall look calm.
4. Combine by theme
Pictures with a common thread look harmonious – for example several world maps or a row of animal motifs. A consistent colour palette also ties different motifs together.
5. Mount without drilling
For rented flats, adhesive hook-and-loop strips or picture ledges are ideal – they hold posters securely and can be removed without a trace.
6. Consider the light
Direct sunlight fades colours over time. Our posters are printed on matte, low-glare paper – but still: keep them out of blazing sun.
7. Frame or bare?
A simple frame enhances a poster and protects it. For a more modern look, hang the poster with magnetic picture ledges. Both look great – it's a matter of taste.
